			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Something that many people do in order to help them sleep better at night is to take a stiff drink before going to bed.  For some of us, it is a matter of drinking a glass of wine but for others, it comes down to a mixed drink or perhaps even a shot or two of bourbon.  Although this may put us into an unconscious state rather easily, the fact of the matter is that you may be robbing yourself of sleep as a result of drinking this alcohol.  Why is that the case?</p>
<p>First of all, you need to understand that insomnia is caused by many different things but one of them is not a lack of alcohol.  If you really want to cure your Insomnia naturally, you need to find out what is at the root of the problem and treat it from there.  Drinking alcohol before bedtime in order to induce sleep is simply taking away the symptom of the Insomnia and not really treating the problem.  You&#8217;re putting yourself into a never-ending cycle of needing this alcohol before you go to bed and unfortunately, it is not doing the job that you are thinking it&#8217;s doing.</p>

<p>Insomnia can come in many different forms but it is really just being unable to sleep or even to rest for more than a few moments at a time.  If you have been dealing with this, even if you have only been dealing with it for a few days, you realize that it can be very frustrating to handle.  You might be surprised, however, to find out that dehydration may be at the root of your insomnia.  Although it is not typically something that many people may consider, drinking enough water to get yourself out of a dehydrated state may be just the ticket to help you to sleep better.</p>
<p>The amount of water that you&#8217;re going to need to drink is considered by many to be excessive.  The fact of the matter is, we are well over 90% water so any lack of it in our body is going to cause some serious problems.  In order to truly be rehydrated, you&#8217;re going to need to drink one half of your body weight every day in ounces of water.  For example, a 200 pound man is going to need to drink 100 ounces of water.  Although this may seem like a lot, it can easily be done by drinking five 20 ounce bottles of water throughout the day.  Drink one when you get up, one before you go to bed and spread the other three out through the day.</p>
<p>You should also make sure that you are taking natural sea salt in order to allow the water to stay in your body long enough to hydrate you.  Take a pinch of salt every time you drink water.  If you start to swell a little bit, cut back on the amount of salt that you are taking and the swelling will go away quickly.  It may seem like a simple cure but you would be surprised with how often dehydration is at the root of insomnia problems.</p>

<p>Many of the little things that cause problems such as this are the glands that are inside of our body.  Some of the main glands that can affect our sleep include the pituitary, the thyroid and the pineal gland.  Although these glands are only several ounces in size each, they can cause major problems if they get out of balance.  Not only do they cause problems with sleeping, they can actually disrupt on our entire life.</p>
<p>The thyroid gland is responsible for so much in the body that it is often considered to be the rudder that steers it.  If we are dealing with hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, our sleep can be affected negatively.  Even Hashimoto&#8217;s disease which is not really a problem with the thyroid but rather a problem with tumors on the thyroid can cause it to function improperly.</p>
<p>The pituitary gland is what regulates the release of adrenaline into our system.  This can cause major problems for us because adrenaline will definitely keep you awake.  If we tend to stress unnecessarily, it may be a problem with our pituitary gland.  Then again, unnecessary stress can also be caused by a vitamin deficiency.  This is a problem that is best left to your doctor to diagnose.</p>
<p>Finally, we have the pineal gland.  This is a small gland that is located in the brain and it is responsible for releasing melatonin into your system.  Melatonin is a natural sleep hormone that is produced by this gland and it helps to regulate our internal clock.  If we are having a difficulty sleeping, melatonin or a lack of it may be to blame.  Either build up your hormone levels naturally or take it as a supplement in order to help you sleep.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you are having a difficult time sleeping at night, you might be surprised to find out that there are things behind it which you may not realize are going wrong with your body.  As a matter of fact, one of the most common things that causes sleep disorders aside from stress is allergies.  I&#8217;m not really talking about hayfever but what I am talking about are allergies to specific things in the environment around us that we may not even realize we are dealing with.</p>
<p>Having allergic reactions to different foods and things that are in the air can cause a lot more difficulties than just sneezing or a runny nose.  As a matter of fact, many of the food allergies that we have go undetected because the only symptoms that they can really cause may show up as insomnia.  In order for us to be able to get to the root of the problem that is causing our insomnia, we may need to take a look at some of the things that are in our environment.  For example, do you eat wheat on a regular basis?  You may be dealing with an allergy to gluten.  Do you drink milk regularly?  This might be the culprit because many of us are lactose intolerant.</p>
<p>If you really want to cure your insomnia and you think allergies may be to blame, you need to have a systematic way of removing things from your diet and your environment.  The first thing that you should do is to keep a record of everything that goes into your body on a daily basis.  This not only includes the foods that you eat but it should also include any liquids that you drink as well.  Keep a record of any kind of symptoms that may show up in your body, no matter how small.  You might be surprised to discover that you have more food allergies than you realized.</p>
<p>Begin getting rid of the things that are causing problems in your body.  Although this can be a little bit difficult, especially if we enjoy eating them, getting a good night sleep and curing our insomnia will make any foods that we have to get rid of well worth the effort.  You should also make sure that you&#8217;re drinking plenty of water every day because this helps to flush any allergens from our system before they have the ability to affect us negatively.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;ve been dealing with insomnia and problems with my sleeping pattern for about as long as I can remember.  As a matter of fact, I had just allowed my mind to adjust to the fact that I was never going to be able to get a good night&#8217;s sleep.  Sometimes, I would toss and turn at night and be unable to fall asleep at all and then the next night, I would fall asleep immediately, but wake up before too long with the weight of the world on my shoulders.  I have dealt with this for so long that I was surprised whenever something happened which changed all of that in me.</p>
<p>I had gone on a long trip for business where I crossed through several different time zones.  As a result of this, my sleeping became worse because I was dealing with jet lag.  Somebody suggested to me that I should try taking some melatonin in order to overcome this difficulty.  I was amazed that the melatonin not only helped me to overcome my jet lag, it also helped me to overcome my insomnia.</p>
<p>Melatonin is a natural hormone that is released in the body by a gland in our brain.  It is typically found in concentrated levels before we fall asleep but in many individuals, it is not present in the levels that are necessary in order to get the sleep that we need.  Taking a melatonin supplements about a half hour before I went to sleep helped to build up my body&#8217;s levels of this vital hormone and to allow me to get the sleep that I needed.</p>
<p>I began to study a lot about this hormone and I&#8217;ve learned that it is not only available in a pill form but there are things that you can do in order to help build up your body&#8217;s natural levels.  One of the ways that this is done is by an amino acid that is known as tryptophan.  Believe it or not, one of the ways that you can get tryptophan is through drinking warm milk.  As it turns out, our mothers really knew what they were talking about whenever they told us to have a glass of warm milk before going to bed at night.</p>
<p>If you are having a difficult time sleeping and have been dealing with insomnia for a long time, perhaps melatonin can help you as well.  You can either buy it at the local vitamin store or build up your natural levels.  Either of these should help you to get the sleep that you need.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There are a lot of different things that can keep us from sleeping at night.  Many of us suffer from insomnia as a result of stress or perhaps an imbalance in our body.  If it seems that you just can&#8217;t get the sleep that you need, you might be surprised to learn that dirt is behind a lot of your sleeping disorders.  I&#8217;m not just talking about dirt on our bodies, I&#8217;m talking about our environment being dirty in general.  Here are some things that you can do prior to going to bed which can help you to get a good nights sleep.</p>
<p>The first thing that you should do is to make sure that you are taking a shower before you go to bed every night.  During the day, our hair acts as a magnet for all of the pollen that is in the air.  Whenever we go to sleep, this pollen is transferred from our hair to the pillow and we end up breathing it in throughout the night.  If we have a problem with allergies, and most of us do, this can make a difference in the quality of sleep that we are getting.  As a matter of fact, you might find out that this kind of allergy is behind your insomnia in some way or another.</p>
<p>Another thing that we should make sure of is that the room we are sleeping in is clean and tidy.  It is not only important that the sheets on our bed are clean and freshly laundered, we want to make sure that the rest of our room is not cluttered.  Although we are going to be sleeping with our eyes closed, our mind is still going to know that there is clutter present in the room.  Believe it or not, this can have an amazing impact on our ability to sleep and can actually begin to cause insomnia in some people.  Take a little bit of time to make sure that this area is clean and you will be able to sleep a little better.</p>
<p>One thing that I need to caution you about, however, is that you do not over clean by using strong detergents.  Many of us can have a bad reaction to these detergents that can keep us up at night.  Make sure that you launder your sheets with an organic detergent and don&#8217;t use any harsh chemicals when you&#8217;re cleaning this area.  This is just one more step that you can take to help you to get a good nights sleep.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The television set has really changed our lives and many times, it has not changed them for the better.  At one time, the TV set was only in the room where we tended to congregate during the evenings but now, many of us have a set in every room in the home.  It is a constant noise that is going on in the background and many of us have become so dependent on it that we feel we can not even sleep without it.  The fact of the matter is, however, it might be the television set that is robbing you of the sleep that you need.</p>
<p>If you are the type of person that feels that they must have the television set on in order to go to sleep, you might be surprised to learn that it may actually be robbing you of deep sleep.  It is during these phases of deep sleep that our bodies rejuvenate themselves and our minds are able to sort the information that it has picked up during the day.  The reason why it does this is because it adds noise in the room, something that is not conducive to getting a good night sleep.  It may also be disrupting our sleep patterns as a result of the light that the television set gives off.  This can cause us to have insomnia like symptoms that we may not recognize are coming from this electronic device.</p>
<p>Some of us turn the television on at night in order to drown out other noise that may be going on in the home.  If this is the case for you, you are simply creating a noisy environment that is close to you when you are sleeping.  It is a much better idea for you to get an air filter or perhaps run a fan in order to create some white noise.  This will help to drown out the other noises that are in the house while still allowing you to sleep properly.</p>
<p>If you absolutely must have the television set on in order to go to sleep, make sure that you use the sleep function.  This is a timer that is built into most television sets which automatically shuts it off after a set period of time.  If you do this, you may be able to use the TV to help you fall asleep and then maintain your sleep because the television set will not be waking you up.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There are a lot of different things that you can do in order to help you if you are having a hard time falling asleep or staying asleep.  Unfortunately, many of these things are going to take additional effort on our part but if we are persistent in doing them, we will be able to reap the rewards.  Although we should make sure of what we are eating and stay away from any kind of stimulating drinks whenever it is close to bedtime, something that many people are missing is exercise.</p>
<p>I know what you are probably thinking.  Exercising does take effort and many of us only consider exercise to be something that makes us break a sweat.  The fact of the matter is, there are certain types of exercise that we can do which are actually quite relaxing.  A good example of this is stretching exercises.  Not only is this going to help our bodies to get into shape but it will also do so without making us go through any sort of rigorous activity.</p>
<p>One of the things that stretching will do for us is to release serotonin into our systems.  Serotonin naturally makes us feel better and puts us into a good mood.  If you are having a difficult time sleeping because you are dealing with stressful situations and cannot get them off of your mind, serotonin may be able to help you in this regard.  Another reason why it is good is because it put your body back into balance which is one of the main reasons why people are dealing with insomnia in the first place.  Yes, the details may differ but it is almost always a lack of balance in the body.</p>
<p>It is not necessary for you to do a lot of stretching on a daily basis.  As a matter of fact, just getting up and stretching on occasion and then perhaps doing a stretching routine for 15 to 20 minutes per day is all that is necessary to see some changes take place.  There are plenty of DVDs which you can buy that will walk you through every step of the process.  Take your time and really allow your body and mind to relax whenever you&#8217;re going through your stretching exercises.  You will probably find that within a week, you are able to sleep better as a result.</p>
